Due to the Metro-North station in town, Rowayton is ideal for Manhattan commuters or those who want to experience all that the city has to offer. Particularly known for acclaimed 19th-century painter John Frederick Kensett, who often painted the town’s landscape, Rowayton has long been a haven for artists.

Heralded as a beachside haven for artists, Rowayton offers plenty of opportunities for cultural enrichment, whether you want to get outside in nature or enjoy shopping and dining.

Rowayton’s town center is home to lots of fun shops and boutiques. Find the perfect gift at Chou Chou, a fashion accessories store, or Seaside Delights, which sells cute beach apparel. For your favorite retailers, the Stamford Town Center is just a 10-minute drive away!

Locals love Rowayton Seafood, a longtime staple that serves delicious seafood in a chic, waterfront dining room. Gourmet grocery store Rowayton Market is also nearby, similarly beloved by Rowayton residents. Stop by Rowayton Pizza for a slice or Brendan’s 101 for deli sandwiches. Rowayton is known for its Shakespeare by the Sound theater group, a non-profit that puts on open-air Shakespeare plays and offers summer camps and classes. The Rowayton Civic Association hosts the annual River Ramble, a fun community event with a vendor marketplace, great food, live and silent auctions, and activities for the whole family.

Get some sun at Bayley Beach, which also has a snack bar, picnic tables, a basketball court, and a children’s play area! Bell Island Beach is also accessible for members of the Pine Point Association and their guests. Don’t forget about your furry friends—Rowayton Dog Park is the perfect fenced-in area for your dogs to play off-leash!
